What QRIS is
QRIS is Bank Indonesia's single QR code standard: one sticker at the counter takes payment from any Indonesian bank app or e-wallet. You'll see it at warungs, cafés, markets, even parking attendants.
Why your Aussie banking app can't scan it
QRIS links to banking apps from only six countries: Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and China. (Antara, checked 2026-10-25) Australia isn't on the list, so to pay by QR you need an Indonesian e-wallet.
